Hi, I'm Jasmine, the founder of Taboo Foodz. My journey into the world of health-conscious eating started with a personal mission: to transform my favorite childhood foods into nutritious, delicious alternatives. Growing up in Jackson, Mississippi, and Arlington, Texas, I was surrounded by the comforting flavors of classic dishes shared with family and friends. These experiences taught me that comfort food doesn't have to be a fall-off-the-wagon type of thing—it can be both satisfying and healthy.
My culinary education began at home, watching my mother and grandmother cook. Through their guidance, I became self-taught in the kitchen, developing a deep appreciation for the joy and love that food can bring to your family, friends and loved ones. However, my relationship with food took a turn in 2017 when I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Despite my efforts to eat healthily, I found that many foods caused my ankles to swell, negatively affected my mood, and left me feeling fatigued and unfocused.
With little help from doctors and many failed, unrealistic diet plans, I took matters into my own hands. After years of research and experimentation, I discovered that a dairy-free, sugar-free, and gluten-free diet gave me the best results. Initially, I craved fast food items but soon began looking up their ingredients and swapping out the unhealthy ones for better alternatives. This approach not only improved my health but also inspired me to create Taboo Foodz.
At Taboo Foodz, I focus on developing gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free options that don't compromise on flavor. My goal is to prove that healthy eating doesn't have to be boring or restrictive—it can be exciting, satisfying, and full of life.
